4 Days in Nepal ~ ILWA

Hello, la, la la!!

First post in English already

This time, we´d love to share with the world our adventures in Nepal, let’s get started!

We travelled to nepal from the 15th to the 19th of February 2019, quite a nice time to go if you don’t want to find many crowds.

We really wanted to go trekking, but we had really few days, so we decided to take it slow and visit the Kathmandu Valley for this time, because we’re going back for sure!

15TH FEBRUARY:

  • We arrived to Kathmandu Airport quite late in the evening, around 8pm and we got a little cheated by the driver that was going to take us to the airport (he charged us 800 NPR). NOTE THAT THE FAIR AMOUNT TO GO TO THE CENTRE OF KATHMANDU SHOULD BE AROUND 400 NPR.
  • Our good luck wasn’t with us that night and the room that we had booked for that night was given to another couple, SO GREAT . That´s why in this case we’re not recommending you this place.

16TH FEBRUARY:

  • Our plan was to see Kathmandu Durbar Square, Thamel and surroundings, but…

  • So we ended up having some beers and going to Nagarkot in early afternoon.

17TH FEBRUARY:

  • We saw the sunrise with views of Himalaya Mountains , from the hotel terrace, really good experience.
  • After that, we had a little walk around Nagarkot
  • We ate lunch on our way to Namo Buddha Monastery, but for some reason that we didn’t know, it was closed that day, so we had a walk around it.
  • Our aim was to see Bhaktapur afterwards, but due to the traffic and the weather, we couldn’t, so we headed back to Kathmandu again

18TH FEBRUARY:

  • In the morning, we went to Patan Durbar Square, where we met some friends which Gori first met in 2015, when se came to Nepal to volunteer for Hands On Institute (we will write a whole post on this, for sure).
  • After having lunch, we went to Boudhanath, which is one of the largest Stupas in the World. There’s an entrance fee that is quite high, but if you enter from any hotel surrounding it, it’s free! (We discover this AFTER having paid).
  • In the late evening, we were told to go to Pashupatinath, next to Bagmati river, where take place the funeral ceremonies of hindus.
  • That night we went to the Casino… All the food you can eat and all the drinks you’re able to drink are available on the condition that you play… You just need the Passport for a free entrance!

19TH FEBRUARY:

  • Last day in Nepal… In early morning we headed to the Monkey Temple in Kathmandu. SUGGESTION: Have a good breakfast because from Thamel it’s a 30 minute walk, but once you get there there are like ten thousand stairs.
  • Once you get there, you’ll get a nice view of Kathmandu and many many monkeys.
  • After that, we went directly to the airport, back home

This was our trip to Nepal, we ABSOLUTELY loved it and we’re planning to go back soon.

If you wander where to eat, which hotel to book, a driver or you are planning a trip to Nepal like ours, just drop a mail, call us or follow our adventures on social media, it will be really great if we could help with you adventures also!!
